Morning everyone! Happy Monday 🙂 I’ll be starting off my morning with this yummy vibrant turmeric chai spiced porridge again today so I thought I’d share the recipe with all of you. There are so many reported health benefits to turmeric, better sleep, cancer prevention and reduction, eye health, lifts depression, better liver health, natural painkiller and anti-inflammatory…definitely worth including regularly in your diet. I use it a lot in curries but when I came across a picture of turmeric oatmeal I knew I had to try it like this! I also have to try it as a warm drink which is really popular, I think it’s known as golden milk. Will be lovely in spiced warm almond or coconut milk! I’ve included my ever present cinnamon in this because…well, because it’s cinnamon and it makes everything better 😉 a little black pepper in the mix increases the bioavailability of the turmeric so your body utilises it properly. The turmeric paste keeps for 5 days in the fridge if you’re wanting to make extra. If you’ve time, soak the oats in the milk overnight so they’ll be extra creamy 🙂 Continue reading →
Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiii everyone!!! Yes, I’m still running a blog and haven’t forgotten about it! I took a break over the seasonal period to spend with my nearest and dearest then couldn’t seem to get over blank page syndrome :/ so here is a nice easy recipe to kick things off as I have quite a few posts lined up 🙂 Bliss balls. Energy bites. Little spheres of yummy goodness… whatever your name for these , most of you will be familiar with them. I love these little guys and so does Coppertop, perfect healthy afternoon snack or breakfast option that take no time at all to put together and you don’t even need a food processor for this version. They taste almost more like orange cranberry cookie dough balls but they’re packed full of fibre and slow releasing energy from the oats, Omegas from the hemp seeds and protein from the nut butter. Is it Christmas yet , is it, IS IT?!!! Up until now it really hasn’t felt it in this house for some reason, despite the tree being up , playing Christmas music, going to the local Steiner school Advent Fair where Coppertop played with the walnut boat candles and entered an enchanted crystal forest ( I was SO impressed ). It just felt really flat and I couldn’t muster up the proper Christmas spirit at all. Until now!! All thanks to cookies. Of course. They fix everything, didn’t you know?!! Delicious cranberry and orange morsels with a hint of cinnamon and vanilla. Seriously. YUUUMMMM! I’m going to have to make another few (twenty) batches of these in the next fortnight , to give to every single person I know!! I’m aware I’m using a lot of exclamation marks but I now feel very ‘Buddy The Elf’ instead of the Grinch. I won’t blather on anymore as I want you to quickly read the recipe then go make these and revel in Christmas cheer! Continue reading →
” I’d eat the f&*k right out of thon” – friend and self appointed food critic Tony.
With such an enthusiastic endorsement as that, it’s no wonder I decided to share this quick and easy breakfast recipe that can make a cold rainy Autumn morning feel a little brighter! I love porridge almost as much as I love soup, in fact it’s probably the breakfast equivalent. Frugal, warming, healthy, lots of different ways to change up the flavours, it’s a perfect slow energy releasing start to your day. Continue reading →
