I’m a huge fan of natural toiletries , especially frugal (vegan of course) homemade ones. See why here. But I also want them to be effective and special. This coconut oil lemon sugar scrub ticks all the boxes. It’s refreshing, luxurious, sloughs off dead skin yet moisturises beautifully leaving skin glowing and smelling heavenly. Though it does always leave me craving lemon squares.
I made this as a present for my sister last Christmas and I’ve had requests for 3 refills since and it’s “better than any I’ve bought from a store”. Best of all, it can be put together in less than 15 minutes and stores really well. I personally think this is a great idea for a gift ( even if it’s just a present to yourself) and I can’t imagine using any other scrub now. So here’s the super simple recipe for this homemade coconut lemon sugar scrub
Ingredients
2 and 1/2 cups sugar
1/4 cup + 1tbsp coconut oil,melted
Juice and zest of 1 lemon plus 5-6 drops of lemon essential oil
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp desiccated coconut
Method
Melt the coconut oil then add all ingredients to the sugar and stir thoroughly to mix evenly. Aaaaaand you’re done. Phew, hard work eh?!
Use on damp skin in the shower and revel in how pampered you feel afterwards!
