Why I Have A Natural Household

Allergies. Toxins. Pollution. Asthma. Cancer. All very familiar words that have been linked with modern lifestyles including chemically laden food, toiletries and cleaning products. From air fresheners linked to respiratory problems to the fact that 60% of what we put on our skin is absorbed into our bloodstream. More and more people are becoming conscious of what they ingest and surround themselves with.

I choose to make household cleaners and toiletries such as surface sprays, scouring powders, moisturisers, toothpaste etc for many reasons. Not only is it safer to have around children and pets,cruelty-free, frugal (not paying for expensive packaging either), but it’s more environmentally friendly.

Think about the cocktail of chemicals in most washing powders, shampoo, face scrubs (micro beads are devastating to waterways). Every time you do dishes, flush the toilet or do laundry you could be contributing to the poisoning of our water systems.

Natural products can be just as effective and smell incredible too thanks to the use of essential oils. I’m thrilled to be using safe, effective, frugal products in my home. Hopefully you will be too when you try my recipes from future posts. Happy cleaning!! 🙂
